people. This comes from a long tradition of having a
fun time with good friends and good food. Our
passion for life is the driving force in everything we do and pushes our approach to hard work. We embrace all that life has to offer – the ups and downs
– the pleasures and the struggles. Here at La Val’s – MAKING PIZZA IS A BIG DEAL FOR US!
We make the best of life and this is our main ingredient in our pizza. Our goal is to make the best pizza we can – always tasty and delicious – for our wonderful customers.
La Val’s Pizza of Albany has a legacy of serving mouthwatering
pizzas using high quality and fresh ingredients. We even make our own sausage and hot sauce! Our secret recipe includes Kindness, Joy, and Love in every
bite. We believe this makes our pizza the best in
town! Don’t worry, we still offer the traditional La Val’s Pizza menu. But, don’t hesitate to try out some other wonderful menu items that promise you a unique taste of
Brazil. Things like Chicken Catupiry (made with a
Brazilian cheese), Brazilian BBQ Chicken Pizza, Sea Food Pizza or the Carne Special. We also make Brazilian sweet dessert pizzas including Strawberry Chocolate and Caramelized Banana
with Cinnamon. If you’re looking for something other than pizza, we serve Hot Sandwiches, Calzones,
Salads, Pastas, Hot Wings, Garlic Bread and yummy Desserts.
History of La Val's Pizza
In 1955, La Val's Pizza opened its doors and Berkeley got its first pizzeria. La Graves, Valencia, and an additional business partner
opened their first location on Euclid Avenue. The partners continued to own and manage a total of four locations. In 1976, Dan Fogerty and partners reopened and remodeled
the Euclid location. They helped rebuild the brand with a new attitude and with new-found success, Fogerty opened La Val's on Durant Avenue
in 1982. In 1985, Dan added two more partners,
Roger and
Debbie Spenger
. To many UC Berkeley students and alumni, the location on Durant was the place to go. There was a big screen TV, pool tables and a host of
arcade machines. Roger and Debbie ended up
leaving the Durant location, but in 2009, they opened a La Val's Pizza in the Temescal district of Oakland. We carry on a tradition of excellence for Berkeley’s
oldest pizzeria by using fresh ingredients and giving great customer service.
